Experience
Les has two areas of primary interest and expertise: increasing the capability and
effectiveness of leaders and their team members; and increasing the effectiveness of
production processes by reducing the consumption of input resources.
He achieves his first goal by providing people with organisational knowledge, skills, structures and systems that help them to release of their natural abilities and enthusiasm. The outcome is a work environment that is both more productive for the business and more satisfying for the individual.
A qualified engineer, Les has over 20 years of experience in line production management and technical operations support roles within major engineering and mining companies such as BHP Steel, Tomago Aluminium and the Rio Tinto Group. He gained significant experience in leading large unionised workforces while continually improving the technical performance of production processes in these types of organisations. He also has successfully delivered leadership development, HR systems development and major service contract negotiation for major organisations.
More recently Les has worked with a variety of businesses on projects as diverse as:
- Preparing submissions to a national safety award
- Preparing and presenting organisational theory to middle managers
- Reviewing supply logistics processes
- Preparing a set of behavioural principles for team members
- Advising on conducting workshops in the preparation for a major supply contract negotiation
- Conducting interviews with line managers and operators to ascertain differences in safety leadership behaviour
- Reviewing and converting process data into meaningful information for process management.
